NJIVICE, not far from Omišalj, has always been part of the Omišalj castle, and today the Municipality of Omišalj. Probably the place was inhabited in ancient times. They are first mentioned in written sources in 1474 in the deed of gift of Prince Ivan the Seventh Frankopan. For the past centuries, it was a small Krk village whose inhabitants were mainly engaged in fishing, olive growing and animal husbandry, as well as forest exploitation. Houses along the sea shore, boats and fishing nets, "cassettes" full of fish, have been a recognizable image of Njivice for centuries. Njivice is the youngest place on the island of Krk, it developed precisely thanks to tourism. In 1930, the first hotel was built, thus initiating the transformation of a small fishing village into one of the strongest tourist centers on the island of Krk. In the center of town is a small harbor with the edges of which stretch on both sides of the beach. This is where the central part of Njivice's life takes place: with numerous restaurants, cafes and patisseries. Today, Njivice is a tourist center with modern accommodation facilities, dominated by hotels and a campsite protected by the shade of deciduous trees. At the end of the city beaches begins the promenade - a romantic path through the shade by the sea in the length of 1200 meters. In addition to mild natural conditions and accommodation infrastructure at an enviable level, Njivice offers its visitors outdoor entertainment that are on the program almost every day. So you can get to know traditional folklore, listen to klapa concerts, promenade concerts of wind orchestras. During the summer, the local gallery hosts exhibitions by renowned artists.
